Tangerine Dream
Continuum Tour 2025
Barcelona -Paral·lel 62
April 2nd 2025
Legendary German electronic music band Tangerine Dream will be touring our stages next year. Specifically, they will be bringing us their “Continuum Tour 2025” on April 2nd in Barcelona (Paral·lel 62).
Tangerine Dream was founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. They are considered pioneers of their genre, with a fundamental role in the creation of the German school of cosmic music (kosmiche), as well as the creators of some of the main albums in the 70s that further explored synthesizers and sequencers, with “Phaedra” (1974) and “Rubycon” (1975) being part of several summary lists with the best albums of those times. Throughout their career they have shown an unstoppable restlessness, always open to the different stylistic preferences of its members (while, for example, Froese was inspired by Jimi Hendrix, other members were inspired by avant-garde elements such as Stockhausen or Terry Riley, or by the progressive rock of Yes; without forgetting the permanent shadow of classical music, from Bach and Boulez to Xenakis or Ravel).
The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese being the only continuous member until his death in January 2015. Since Froese’s death in 2015, the group is under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning (Froese’s chosen successor and the longest-serving current member of the band, having joined in 2005). He was joined by violinist Hoshiko Yamane in 2011, Ulrich Schnauss in 2014 and Paul Frick in 2020. Despite, or perhaps because of so many musicians coming and going, his output has been very prolific, including more than a hundred albums. The latest of these, the highly acclaimed “Raum”, from February 2022.
