Ever wonder which engineering is best for me? Then this is the perfect video for you, I'm going to explain everything you need to know about the top engineering degrees and create a engineering degree tier list so you know which engineering to choose - Enjoy!!!

Check out these books!

When it comes to engineering majors in college you have SO MANY options. But each of the engineering branches is very different, so it's important you understand what engineering to choose. Top engineering degrees pay well, offer you flexibility, and should be something you enjoy doing. The engineering majors ranked in this video are some of the most common engineering majors, including biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering and more. You should have an understanding of the different engineering fields to help you choose the right engineering degree. Also let me know if you agree with the placements in this engineering degree tier list or if you would switch some of them up!

The video is only 10 minutes long, but believe it or not it takes me about 10 HOURS to make each video. If you take a second to hit that like button for the algorithm it'll make my day!!!!

Hey, Environmental Engineer here. You're right in that the current job perspective is pretty low but because younger generations are becoming more aware of the impacts of climate change and more government bodies are switching to renewable energy sources; it should eventually grow in the near future.
We work in different fields like water, air, solid waste, R&D, and compliance so it's not all that boring 😀

This was really helpful. I’ve been considering majoring in engineering and business so your videos have been great

Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil are the only 4 true original fields of engineering.

Great Video! I am a chemical engineer! I'm surprised we fall in the middle of the list. There are a lot of companies especially in manufacturing that hire chemical engineers over mechanical and industrial because we can technically do or learn what they do especially since there is a lot of overlap in the coursework (thermo, fluid dynamics, etc).

I am a grade 11 student right now and planning to take mechanical engineering in college because I think it fits my likings, I want to make high-class cars and innovative products that could help in the future hehe

Hello!!! I switched majors from chemical engineering to Industrial Engineering with a minor in IT. What I love about IE is just how much applicable knowledge you get out of the program. Unlike in ChemE where you’re mostly dealing with reactions, flow rates, mass/energy balances, IE is all about maximizing raw materials, optimizing production processes, maximizing profits which will definitely help me someday if ever I plan to start my own business. The say IE isn’t a real engg discipline, well it kinda isn’t as it’s more of a business/statistics major BUT with engineering applications . I’m Loving every bit of IE!!!

Professional Electrical engineer here, 83k starting pay. I believe it just comes down to WHERE you place emphasis in your area and what you bring to your specific company. I find smaller companies are better because you stand out more with the technical growth

I think industrial engineering is the best because it's main purpose is to increase productivity through technical means of nay industry, and I think that goes with every kind of industry. Industrial engineers can get jobs at any field whether it's technical and non-technical as their main goal is to increase productivity. I think this is the most diverse and best field of engineering- industrial engineering.

Guys the best engineering degree you can get in no order is:
1. Electrical and electronics engineering
2. Civil engineering
3. Mechanical engineering
4. Chemical engineering

Always avoid specialist areas such as Computer or industrial or petroleum or biomedical or Aerospace.

Go for an EEE degree instead of Computer engineering. If you wanna design software then go for software engineering or computer science (or still go for EEE and then get a masters in some areas you like) but pls generally avoid specialized set degrees.

I'm a Mechanical in the space/aerospace industry. I'm a jack of all trades and master of none (but often times better than a master of one). Mechanicals are versatile. I've been in the industry for 5 years and, pay-wise, about to hit six figures. In my role, I've had a variety of tasks normally assigned to different disciplines (i.e. electrical (RF), systems, manufacturing, and some simple coding (Matlab)). On the other hand, my SO is an Environmental and it took her two years to land her first engineering role. The Environmental Engineering job market is very competitive, pays less, and usually requires more than a BS to become an attractive candidate. However, I think Environmental Engineering will have a bright future because environmental mitigation and management will be a necessity for the future of humanity on Earth.

Petroleum engineering student here in terms of how rough working conditions are really depends on what you choose to do within the field as there are 4 different mini fields to choose from inside of petroleum engineering as a whole. finding jobs is difficult but only if you life far away from a place that’s full of oil, but for example in Texas you would have lots of luck finding a job since it’s a gold mine for petroleum engineers. Hope this info helps and helps others continue to pursue their dreams 😎
