Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi swearing-in live updates: Five years after he resigned as Chief Minister and walked out of the Mahagathbandhan when RJD leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav refused to step down in the wake of an alleged corruption case, JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar returned to the Mahagathbandhan and Tejashwi. Nitish ended his alliance with the BJP on Tuesday, resigned as the coalition Chief Minister, only to stake claim again hours later with Tejashwi as his deputy. The swearing-in ceremony in Bihar on Wednesday isn’t just a new government taking oath, it is the “ghar wapsi of the 2017-2020 mandate”, said RJD MP Manoj Jha. “It’s not only a Govt that’ll take oath, it’s ‘ghar wapasi’ of 2017-2020 mandate,” Jha told news agency ANI.

The BJP, meanwhile, burnt more than once by Kumar, accused him of being a “habitual betrayer”. In a statement issued after core committee meeting at the state headquarters, the party announced that it will stage massive protests (mahadharnas) against the “betrayal” by the JD(U) leader across all districts on Wednesday which will be followed by agitations at the block level a day later, news agency PTI reported.
