Equipment Needed: As many balls and cones as you have. A goal and a wall or fence too.

Session:
0-5 minutes:
Warm up, Jog and stretch doing all the normal exercises like high knees, side shuffle, etc.

5-10 minutes:
Speed of Play training. Pass the ball off the fence. As it comes back to you check your shoulders to see the field and look for defenders and attackers. Either play it back to the fence one touch in a man on situation or tell yourself to turn and attack the space ahead of you. Repeat for 5 minutes.

10-15 minutes:
Set up two cone goals in your goal. Pass the ball off your fence, as it comes back to you, check your shoulders, take a good forward touch and pass the ball in either cone goal one or two. You make the choice. After you use all your balls, re group them and repeat for 5 minutes.

15-20 minutes:
Attacking the space and drawing in defenders practice. Set up a start cone, a defender cone about 15 yards ahead of you and two cone goals at angles off the defender cone about 10 yards behind it. Dribble at pace to the defender cone. You are attacking the space. Imagine in a game that defender is closing you down. When a defender steps to you what does that usually mean somewhere else? That means space and a teammate is open. As a midfielder you need to have your eyes up, see the open teammates and make the pass as you draw in the defender. So dribble to the cone and as you get close pass into cone goal one or two; imagine a defender is stepping to you. Jog back and repeat for 5 minutes.

20-25 minutes:
Chipping technique practice. Practice chipping the ball over the midfield line into your forward. Set up four cones as a target 30-40 yards away from you. Pass the ball off the wall, check your shoulder as it comes back and chip the ball in the target. Repeat for 5 minutes.

25-30 minutes:
Shuttle Sprints with the ball. Set up 4 cones. A start cone and three cones you will sprint too. Sprint while dribbling to the first cone and back, second cone and back and the third cone and back. Rest for 30 seconds then repeat. Do this 5 times. Dribbling while sprinting as hard as you can will greatly increase your dribbling and attacking the space abilities in midfield.

*If you want to extend the training session time then add on time to any section you want extra work on.

*Make sure to finish with cool down and stretching. If you are up for it add on a few sit ups and push ups!
