I am an Aeromodelling I fly remote control sports model name is miss world. I do all shorts of manuvar . Knots, mph, km/h, it doesn't matter which format you use. Most North American light aircraft (particularly older ones) have airspeed indicators in mph. So to say that aircraft fly in knots just shows inexperience. Typically, if you talk about an aircraft's performance, you are referring to airspeed. Groundspeed is simply a function of airspeed vs. the vector of wind direction and velocity.
