I have been learning Italian for two years and I live in Italy. My listening comprehension remains appalling. I still find that trying to pick out the words in most Italian speech is like trying to see the faces of the passengers in the windows of an express train as it hurtles past at 80mph.

For intermediate listening skills I thought this was spot on. I got some wrong and struggled but that doesn't mean I'm not an int speaker. This is about the speed of natural transgressions between "slow" speaking Italians.

I'd love more of these exercises!

What part of Italy is the female speaker from? I'm not familiar with that accent, in particular the 'e' at the end of some words being warped into a kind of 'uh'.

There are a few components to teaching yourself to understand Italian quickly . A plan I found which successfully combines these is the Hartlyn Language Lessons (look for it on google) definately the most useful remedy that I've seen. Look at the great info .
