in Sonic Movie 3, Rockwell calls Team Sonic well.. Team Sonic. This seems to be the first time that they've heard the name as Knuckles asks where they got it from and who decided it was that, but it turns out that this is NOT the first time in the Movie franchise that they have been called Team Sonic and that there is indeed another.. To me, Knuckles was surprised and disappointed that this name was actually the team's name. And Sonic was surprised because he was just waiting for someone to call the team "Team Sonic".

How did I miss this detail but I love the idea that Gun was the one who invented the name Team Sonic. It like the “Say that again?” moment from the Fantastic Four. If they do the Shadow movie they should have Gun invent the name Team Dark where they would stay working with them acting as the Suicide Squad to Gun.

I think Drone Home is its own thing and not Canon to the Movies. Since the Drone doesn’t appear or is even mentioned in Sonic 3.

I have a theory: What if all of the Sonic Movies are just Sonics past and Future Sonic is just explaining it and it makes sense because of the start of the first movie. But the question is, who is Sonic explaining it to?

Well, it started from captain rockwell and then they continued with that name for their trio until the end

Tbh there does seem to be a few continuity errors here and there. For example, Sonic acted very offended when Rockwell called them aliens, but Sonic has always referred to himself as an alien since the first movie and was never shown to have an issue with it. I think the writers probably wrote it there as a sarcastic joke from Sonic, but Ben's delivery made it sound as though Sonic took it seriously. I'm not sure why the directors didn't correct him though.
