This scene is so powerful - not only is he acknowledging and mourning of the loss of the girl, but also the loss of his son, and the loss of his son’s childhood. And the mourners are collectively mourning the loss of all childhood.

After hearing an interview with Stephen Graham about the show I found out the solo voice at the end was sang by the actress who played the girl who got killed in the show... how cool is that

Adolescence is not a TV series, it's a phenomenon.

This series shows us the many ways in which childhood dies.
First, it dies when Jamie believes he is ugly and inherently not enough, leading him into incel forums and harmful content.
At the same time, it dies when Katie sends nudes, when the boy leaks them, and when everyone begins to insult her.
Second, it dies when Katie bullies Jamie on Instagram—Instagram acting like a public pillory, exposing him to a new kind of social death.
Third, it dies when Katie is murdered and loses all the infinite possibilities life once held. She could have become anything. Now, she never will.
Finally, it dies when Jamie commits the murder. There is no turning back after taking a life. That day, a boy figuratively died as well—he killed his own childhood and innocence.
What strikes me most in all this is that it could have been avoided by the adult world. We are guilty of the world we bring our children into. And I don’t mean just the parents, but everyone who takes part in societies that corrupt and destroy children.

What's unusual about the series is that it knocks in your head days after watching it. And the knocking is becoming louder and louder. Unbelievable!

This scene is so heartbreaking. The beginning, where Jade is waiting for her best friend and knowing she never will come again.

The most chilling aspect of this scene is that the lone voice heard at the end is indeed that of the actress who portrays the victim. Her presence is always there, forever haunting the situation and representing what could've been

Yesss I love this version. I looked up the original, but the harmony on this one is everything ❤

I just finished the series last night. This scene, this song... was so haunting that I've replayed it over 10 times. This version of the song (no slight to Sting!) is so much better, as it has a context. This song, used here, with the children's voices, is so perfect. Katie sings the last line, which adds to the melancholy. The father is so brilliantly played. Even the drone footage is perfect, slowly passing over the town to get to the site of the sad memorial. I am no film critic, but I feel that this scene is one of the best I've ever seen.

Best camera ever!! This series is a masterpiece!!

Side note: The fact the dad's van was parked for so long before he got out too... Not only was the actor waiting for his cue...but perhaps in the fiction, the dad was waiting for less mourners to be present...plus needing time to marshal his emotions, be sure of his actions, etc... Just got to me because on a second watch the white van driving in caught my attention...but the blue van was there the whole time... The music though...is going to haunt me for a long time...this whole brief series... Jesus.
EDIT: Plus according to a film composer's analysis in another vid, they highlighted the solo female singing at the end, is the actress for Katie. (Plus saw someone commented on this too.)More shivers. Damn...

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are

As a father of 2 boys, one still of adolescence age, this movie tore me apart.

Jesus, this scene is so powerful. It crushed me completely. I already saw whole mini series 3 times. What a directorial triumph! What an acting! Adolescents really got under my skin. It's so fking sad and devastating ... And performances by dad and son are so powerful...omg!

One of the best scenes in British tv history!

This scene became so much more harrowing and important when I learnt that the actress portraying Katie sang the solo at the end. Exceptionally well performed.

Sting used to sing this song, but now this song stings
