HOW TO CHOOSE A CELL PHONE PLAN
1. How much data do you need?
The average consumer uses about 14.6GB per month. People on unlimited plans use an average of 18GB to 20GB per month. This means people are paying for data they don't need.

Checking your data usage is a great way to get a plan that meets your needs, WITHOUT overpaying for data you don't need.

Check your data usage in your online account, or in your phone's settings.

2. What features do you want vs. need?

3. What network do you want for coverage?
There is no point in picking a cheaper cell phone plan if you never have coverage! Thankfully, all cell phone plans in the United States will use either Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile for coverage.

This means you can keep the SAME coverage you are used to while switching to a MORE AFFORDABLE plan.

4. How many lines do you have?
If you have 1, 2, or sometimes even 3 lines, it's often cheaper to get each person their own separate plan. However, if you have 4+ lines, then it's cheaper to get a plan with a family discount.

Keep in mind 5G chews through a data cap in a second lol so unlimited plans are not a bad idea if you don’t wanna worry about caps. That’s mainly why I go with unlimited plans.

I’ve used the cell phone plan comparison tool on your website several times and agree that it is epic. Love how it lets you filter the search by network, price, features, data usage, etc.

You probably have heard this multiple times, I have to say it again: your video content is very high quality. The animation, the design, the color. It's vibrant, but not overwhelming. It's nice. It makes me want to loop the video just because of the aesthetic. Keep up the good work!

I ported my grandmother from straight talk to visible after watching your review about a year ago and joined your party. She is certainly happier with visible, especially at the time when straight talk was some absurd price for not a lot of data based on her use. She was paying over 55 dollars a month and she would still run out of data by the end of the month. She takes advantage of the unlimited hotspot regularly, and before her internet was installed she would regularly use over 250gbs of cellular data per month. Visible has been a great option and I thank you especially for introducing me and many others to the plan.

i never comment on tech videos but this was actually so helpful in narrowing down my decision that i can move on to researching a few key providers. i thought this was gonna take me days to decide! i feel so much less stressed about potentially switching. i've literally been procrastinating for years! AND it wasn't 20 min long. thank you!!

American plans are really expensive, it's a scam. In France, we pay between 15 and 20 euros per month.

stetson I would love if you did a review on T-Mobile business plans. you can possibly go over the cost, family plans, priority data, QCI levels, Hotspot, International roaming, domestic roaming, etc...

Two years in and still happy with XFinity Mobile. I really like some of the other MVNOs, but it's nice having the convenience of walking into the store when you need something taken care of that day.

Just wanted to say thank you for recommending US Mobile from one of your earlier videos. I've been with them for over a year now and I've saved so much money switching from verizon

Att offers 35 for each line for a family of 4 lines for thr lowest plan. And 200 for the highest. And that's on the regular postpaid plan. Also att offers discounts if you go to college, some work discounts (Amazon, allied security, etc) if your military, or first responder you get major discount too. So the highest plan being 85 can be reduced to 61 which includes hbo max and Hotspot and unlimited internet. If your a first responder and you are just a one liner. You can get first net which offers I think 45 for a phone plan and a free watch with a line and tablet. And some prioritize coverage no regular customer gets. I work there. That's how I know. 😬

I’ll make it simple if you have T-Mobile service in your area go with T-Mobile they’re the cheapest and they have price lock. If you travel just make sure you look at the map to make sure you’re not going to go to a spot that doesn’t have T-Mobile coverage. Also another thing to consider if you are a veteran a first responder go with T-Mobile because you get 50% off plans! I get 5 lines Al unlimited on T-Mobile One Military for $110.

Hey Stetson, thanks for the vid, great stuff as usual. (Also loved the podcast with Ahmed Khattak, always interesting stuff) I have some Family members on US Mobile and they do have taxes and fees. If I heard correctly you said they do not. Just wanted to clarify wasn't 100% sure. Thanks!

The best way to choose a call plan is by not getting one or by getting one of those expensive iPhone or expensive Samsung phones

Just got back on a grandfathered in plan on t-mobile, $20 a month(not including tax) for unlimited with 4k streaming, after being on xfinity and visible, and nothing compares. Plus t-mobile weirdly seems to have much better service in the places I go to, specifically indoors. Just used 60gb this past month, no regrets. Also t-mobile business support is absolutely fantastic, and fixed every single problem I had within a couple hours.

I have been with metro PCs for years, been trying to jump the ship, but 110 bucks unlimited for 3 lines with an iPhone in it. Have not found anything cheaper. And it works here in Miami.

I just went from Verizon to T-Mobile. Went from $140 for two phones to $80 with the 100gb plan. I average 80-100 GB per month.

Thank you so much for pointing out that "Last Reset" date for checking your data on iPhone. I thought I was crazy since I was just looking at the data amount and it was HUGE.
