Christmas lights are shining bright,
This time every night, they reappear,
Even Rockefeller gets a new tree every year,
Window shopping, spreading joy and cheer.
New York at Christmas time,
Streets packed with snow and long lines,
Salvation Santas are ringing their bells,
The people passing by, they wish you well.
Head up to East Durham to a Christmas tree farm,
Drive past Gavin’s Inn, remember summers’ not that far,
Stop at your local firehouse and buy a Christmas wreath,
Let’s celebrate this year and raise a glass to joy and grief.
Tune in on Sunday for Maggie on FUV,
Hit mass at St. Patrick’s, grab a beer at Connolly’s,
Garland strewn in every pub, feels like a memory,
Fill your heart with cheer, my dear, this is the remedy.
We all dream of bigger places,
When Christmas comes, you’re right at home,
So pour another whiskey, by the mistletoe you’ll kiss me,
Cheers, Christmas, from Boston to New York.
Lace up your skates and hit the Frog Pond skating rink,
After two pints at the Rose, it’s harder than you think,
All the lights at Faneuil Hall are green and black and gold,
Way too many presents to be bought and to be sold.
Haven’t played Fairytale in just about a year,
But I think that I’ll remember if I have another beer,
Now it’s off to Dooley’s for the annual Christmas show,
And everyone is driving like they’ve never seen the snow.
