Exacly the same with my Fiamma fitting . Would not recommend at all . Fiamma quite dismisive when contacted .

Use Anti seize grease when you fit it, and I used some of the ceramic polish stuff on mine so ahve no issues.

I've just bought a van with one of these. the idea of having a sun shade awning is a great thing at camp but although its a novilty to wind out the awning the overall weight of the product, the wind drag, mine is mounted to a roofrack that is yet more drag and wind noise and they are a bit fiddily to deploy when all you need is a length of sail track and a tarp with a bolt rope and a couple of poles. For the amount of times the thing will get used I'd rather use a diffrent option.
the alloy is reacting to the steel screws and to the body of the vehicle and so could/ will help rust your vehicle. It's unnecessary camping bling
