I raise French and American Alpines. I got into goats for the Agriculture exemption and my brother-in-law found a lady getting out of goats because she was moving to the city.
I went through field fence, welded wire and then found no climb horse fence and the goats can't break it. I have to go 5 feet high because my goats can jump. I do have to disbud them because they are registered dairy goats and the ADGA requires them not to have horns. Some of my goats are polled.
I like the Alpines because they are fairly easy to handle and they are quiet.
When I got into goats I had a lot of friends that told me that goats were easy to care for. I found out that if there is a way to cause trouble, they will. They do keep life interesting. I love watching the kids play and how the goats interact with each other.
They are entertaining. It's amazing how agile they are.

Hey there Josh, I hope you’re feeling better and enjoying being able to enjoy the farm and your animals again. I’m recovering myself, my husband got sick with the sinuses and Covid, that a couple of his workers had gotten but he was able to rid himself of Covid due to his shots and catching it early but amazingly he became sick with his ears and a low grade fever and the doctor had to treat him for sinusitis with antibiotics but he’s a fighter when he gets sick and he got well right away. The weather has been so strange lately and some days are like spring and then the true weather came in and it got so cold and now snowy and everyone is getting sick. I recovering from a severe sinus infection with fever and headaches, so now I stay away from crowds and wear mask outside. How is your family? I hope everyone’s well. Take care of yourself and listen to the doctor. God bless you and your family. I love your cute Kiko babies.❤

Good tips for anyone wanting to get into goats. The one thing that has kept me from getting goats is the lack of good fencing. Fencing is expensive and what I have won't hold water let alone a goat! So that is one thing I would have to address. 🤔💖😉
I am happy to see you looking well. My prayers go with you always. 💖🙏💖

Boy you ain't lying, I learned the hard way too. After eight years in raising goats a good fence is absolutely important. I raise dairy goats for the milk (we love it) which I make cheese and soap from. Now my goats are not purebred, but mostly Nubian with some Alpine and LaMancha mixed in, but all dairy breeds. I have considered keeping some of bucklings for meat but haven't as of yet.
