HOW TO REMOVE THE PRINTING ON GLASS BOTTLES

I just did another 6 bottles this weekend. I don't really measure. I found a flower vase /container that was taller and barely bigger than my bottles. I slipped the bottle into our that was filed worth water so it wouldn't float. Then poured in maybe 1/3 CLR and topped off with water.

CLR isn't cheap and I try using a little as possible. I also was doing 15-25 minutes soaks with good results. I just became aware that a product called Lemishine used for hard water spots in the dishwasher works as well.

i first tried lacquer thinner.   nothing,   it just laughed at me.   then bought a 15 dollar can of paint stripper gel that could take the hide off an elephant.  nothing.  then tried a buffing wheel on my dremel.  nothing but a mess.  razor blade. nothing.   wet sand.  nothing but maybe some scratches.    then i looked up this video.   and bought a 7 dollar small bottle of CLR.   ABSOLUTELY WORKS!    THANK YOU JASON FOR POSTING!!

Great info! So.. I had some cheap Dollar store 'Rust Lime Calcium' remover (equivalent) on hand and I tried it (before buying the real CLR stuff) and HOT DAMN it worked!!!! Save your money!! P.S. I did not dilute it. The bottles were Pendleton Canadian Whisky. The little Bronco was a little more resistant, so I ended up using a box cutter/razor blade to scrape that off after it had soaked. Worked like a charm! Wear gloves!

Also, have discovered that after soaking wine bottles with print on them for about 4 hours in cider vinegar, it also washes right off.

Does this work for printed ink on Chinese soya sauce glass bottles too? I'm using a plastic bucket with 2 glass soya sauce bottles with CLR diluted with water. For about a couple of days. Should I wait longer?

CLR worked GREAT. I used a small bucket large enough to hold 5 tall wine bottles. I filled the bottles with hot tap water and placed in the bucket. I then poured hot tap water into the bucket to just above the level of the print (about 3 quarts). Then I added 18 oz. of CLR (that's about 6 parts water to 1part CLR). Let this set for 30 minutes and the print wiped off without scrubbing. Wear rubber gloves!! This is great.

I have a 2 litre beer glass with "Happy Birthday etc" printed on it. Will this idea work getting the writing of the glass?

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to try it on a ceramic mug, though hopefully it won't damage the ceramic itself. I'm guessing it won't because I think CLR was meant to be used on bathroom tiles.

Could I use this method to remove the labels from the glass coca cola bottles?

How long would it take if you weren't lazy? :) Just asking how long it needs to soak to be effective. Also, what proportion water to CLR? Thanks!

I tried this and it removed the printing like magic from a couple of brewery growlers I had.  It only took about 15 minutes of soaking, and the paint wiped right off.  But there are really faint "ghost images" from where the printing used to be that you can still see in some lighting conditions.  Did your Stone bottles have ghost images after you removed the paint?  And if so, did you find a way to get rid of them?  I'm going to continue soaking for longer in the CLR and water to see if that makes a difference.  But so far, no amount of scouring has removed the ghost images.
