Historic Marysville hotel destroyed by flames

Hotel Marysville in Yuba County was destroyed on Saturday night by large flames.

As soon as it crossed my mind that it is suspicious as I was watching the video, the fire department employee, apparently, stated that indeed it is suspicious.

I was relieved to hear that none of the firefighters were injured. Dangerous job, brave men.

That place was boarded up for years. Basically an eyesore and blot on the downtown. Still, hope the firefighters are all safe. Too bad there were no funds to restore it and make it a gathering place for those not on drugs.

I was leaving Marysville raceway and the whole road was closed down but it was a scary scene for everyone

You could see this coming. Graffiti was repeatedly appearing all over that building top to bottom.

A single name is not descriptive. There are many 'Marysville"s in this country and throughout the world. This should be obvious to anyone purporting to be conveying the "news". Seems most reporters never took any basic subject matter in whatever school they attended. This was taught in grade schools!!

There have been owners who wanted to do it right but its was such a huge undertaking. The city should be fine with owners donating the land and get on with the demo. There was an element of crime and tresspassing. Enforcement is the cities duty. It was arson. It was bound to happen . Decades went by!!!!

This building, like downtown Marysville, had so much potential and so much history. Shame on the generations of leaders that did nothing to help Marysville reach it's potential. I was born there, but like everyone else I left, sometimes I think about moving back. My grandparents told me stories about dancing and dinner at the Marysville Hotel, apparently it was very beautiful inside. I remember seeing it burn when I was in highschool visiting family, that had to be around 1999. Marysville has so much history, beautiful architecture and its such a waste.

Obviously since its closed and boarded, it was homeless / squatters who started it. Hopefully it can be rurned into something useful like a homeless shelter or a productive business.

I love that place even boarded up. Whatever keeps the yuppies away lol. Bummed out this happened it was such a cool place. My old neighbor lived around the corner from this place

Nothing can stop a fire if there wind blowing hard. Sad day. Looks very suspicious. New hotel will spring now.
