Minato Namikaze (波風ミナト, Namikaze Minato) was the Fourth Hokage (四代目火影, Yondaime Hokage, Literally meaning: Fourth Fire Shadow) of Konohagakure. He was renowned all over the world for his speed, leading him to be dubbed as Konoha's Yellow Flash (木ノ葉の黄色い閃光, Konoha no Kiiroi Senkō, English TV: Yellow Flash of the Leaf). He died during the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack, sacrificing his life to seal a part of the Nine-Tails into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki.

Lets all just take a moment to realise that Minato trained the 6th hokage which also became the 7th hokage's mentor; Minato trained the person who antagonized as madara for a long time in shippuden; Minato essentially gave birth to the 7th hokage AND helped that same person twice. The first time to help Naruto stabilize himself from Kyubi's control and the second time in the 4th great ninja war he helped Naruto by sharing his own Kyubi chakra with him.
