Newbie here. In my first 100-ish games, I always go for culture production in Age I and II, for example with Michelangelo + Basilica, or Gaudy with all 5 urban building types. I do this until the leader's dead, and then protect my civilization with Napoleon and/or Gandhi. It works like 30% of the time lol. I learned a lot from your channel that this is a bad strategy because of how easy another players can sabotage me with wars or infilitration.

Thanks, always helpful to hear a high level overview for a game as intricate as TTA. I would like to add to your comment near the end of the video that you need to play with the cards you have available. I think the aspect of card available is what really makes TTA a great game. A lot of other Civ type games have only one or two dominant strategies and they begin to feel like a skipping record going over the same song (variable player power games aren't always play experience variable games either). TTA takes the random aspect of the line of cards and asks players what can you do with this line of cards?

Great content on your channel DJ thanks for all the work.

Thanks for the video! I think I agree with basically everything on your list, though I have to say I always struggle to keep up on military power (I'm a peaceful guy :P).

Awesome video - I'd picked up a lot watching your videos but it's great to see it condensed like this!

Nice video! I think this is a really useful guideline for new players. I agree with most of your points but want to give a little addition. I think getting up your ressource production is more important than science production in age 1. I go way more often for iron than alchemy. Of course you shouldn´t stay at the one science production of the start but I think two or three science production is often perfectly fine. On the other hand I think that breakthrough is a more valueable card than the ressource yellow cards in age 1, but probably that has something to do with the higher amount of ressource yellow cards and that you want to balance things out (So if I am on iron I don´ t really need yellow cards that give me ressources).

One thing that should maybe be mentioned to age 4 is, that you then often finish your age 3 wonder (because you can spend your ressources without concerning about a war). So always keep in mind that you have enough ressources left to finish your wonder when age 3 is going to end.

3:15 Not sure what you mean by getting a leader that gives you resources if you have a leader that gives you science and vice versa... science is very important in all ages, especially towards the end of age ii, and even if you get for example homeros in age a, you clearly need to focus on a leader that will give you science later on aswell. Resources can be picked up with actions using cards like Reserves and Urban Growth. Please explain in more detail and thanks for a good video.
