Disappointed New Egg-Focused Restaurant in KL: Tamago En | 8 locations in Singapore, Weekday Menu

There’s this new egg-focused restaurant in KL, but if you go during lunch on a weekday , they only allow you to order their lunch sets, none of the unique ala carte stuff that we actually wanted like Tamago skewers, Souffle pancake, nor the egg clouds. Nope, can only order from the lunch sets menu.

So we ordered the Unatama Don (RM32.9) served with unagi and egg in bonito sauce served over rice. The unagi was savory and juicy but the egg was overcooked, dry, flat, with not much flavor.

Same with the Beef Steak Omurice (RM 31.90) the egg was overcooked. Plus. the steak wasn't sliced like on the menu, it was too well-done and tough. Plus mushroom soup tasted like canned Campbell mushroom soup

Then finally the Oyako Don (RM20) with chicken and egg served on rice didn’t look NOR taste good.

So overall a disappointment which was surprisingly because they have 8 locations in Singapore and looks good online, but you dont get the bouncy soft texture egg you’d expect here.They’ve only been open for 3 months, so maybe need more time to find their footing - they have a long way to go, maybe we’ll give it another chance in a few months.
