Gerd Muller, in his last match for the national team in the World Cup final, scored the winning goal on 2:1 against the Netherlands to help Germany win the 1974 World Cup. It's called leaving in style. Apart from that, he was also 7-time Champions League scoring king, 7-time German league scoring king and won the European championship in 1972 and scored 2 goals in the final. This is the best striker ever, he scored goals in the most important matches. It is unfortunate that after his career ended he fell into alcoholism and developed Alzheimer's disease. Sadly he has passed away, this one of the best footballers ever. RIP

Romario what a GOAT. No one came close to him and he played during an era of hard men defenders

Fun fact:Messi has been unable to cross Ronaldo although he came close at times but still Ronaldo has at least 25 more goals than Messi. And still going in 38 years old, 4 goals night.

There is a reason why people debate over Ronaldo and Messi. Both are True legends in their own way!!!

Pele' scored 1282 goals in total (Messi scored only less than 900 in total! Not counting junior games, but counting friendly senior adult professional games!), no one can beat that mark! O.98 goals per game average!!! He played more than 100 games in Europe with the same average of 0.98 gols per game (Messi's average is 0.8 per game!). Wan 3 world cups (national) and 2 world cup for his club (Santos)!!! No one can beat that!!! Pele's friendly games goals should also count as almost all were played in Europe against top european teams of the time and the goal's average of Pele' is the same in friendly games as in official games. So the difficulty level was the same. Plus the amount of official games per year today is superior now than it was before, but the average of goals per official game of Pele' is much superior than that of Messi, even if one counts only official games (0.9 for Pele' and 0.8 goals per game for Messi). Playing much more official games, anyone (really anyone!) can make more goals. All you have to do is to play until you are 50 in a small weak league. Like Cristiano now in Arabia or China. Plus: You know that Barcelona bought games in La Liga, so all Messi's goals in La Liga will be invalidated in this dispute. Look up the scandal this year: 1.5 million euros payed for referees between 2016 and 2018. This invalidates many Messi's goals made with penalty kick, in the period! THEN There is only one king!

It's ridiculous not consider goals of Pele in several tournaments he did with Santos against the major europeans teams many times.

seeing Josef Bican as Austrian really stings... Bican is Czech... youre probably confused by the possibility that he was born in Austro-Hungarian Empire as everyone at that time... that doesnt change facts tho.

Bemzema has 438 career goals. More than aguero. So the active list in the end is pretty misleading

Pelé had 1281 goals in his career. It looks like some people disregard regional championships. In Brazil there is "campeonato brasileiro" (the national championship), "copa do Brasil" (the national cup) and "campeonatos estaduais" (regional cups, there is one for the state of São Paulo, one for the state of Rio de Janeiro, one for the state of Minas Gerais, and other regional cups). These are professional competitions and all of them count for the number of goals of the professional career of a soccer player. So both Pelé and Romário scored over 1.000 in their careers.
