This is so perfectly done. It's so casual, almost as if it's supposed to be funny. This ridiculously massive, life-changing information, and it's said as if it's no big deal. I much prefer the dub on this one, just because it's so quiet and in the background.

What's great is the scene is shot in a way that we as listeners who at times have selective hearing/listening could just hear it as small, casual talk. Like someone could have had a chat about a possible shooting at a work place but at that time people are either stressed on the job or just going through their routine. Reiner was literal starting a conversation with Eren during a point where everyone had been weary and stressed over a period of time. Even us the viewers were worn out due to what happened earlier. if it was done traditionally. Where they were shot in one scene and he told Eren the truth, it would have been impactful for sure. Just not as much here. This way. And it being missable coupled with our selective hearing/listening prompts us the viewers to ask "when did that happened?" Hidden well out in the open. Masterful visual story telling.
