The unicorn: sign of beauty, wisdom and elegance. According to myth, only a virgin of purity can touch it without dying.

Wir haben es uns zum Ziel gesetzt, das Mittelalter interessierten Kreisen mittels sozialer Medien näher zu bringen. Dafür richten wir unseren Schwerpunkt auf die Buchmalerei im Konkreten und auf die mittelalterliche Kunst im Allgemeinen.
We have set ourselves the goal of bringing the Middle Ages closer to interested circles by means of social media. To this end, we focus on book illumination in concrete terms and on medieval art in general.

Where does this unicorn hype come from? Or to put it another way: Where did the unicorn originate? Did this mythical creature really exist? What is the unicorn doing in the Bible? And where did it "get" its horn?
Kaum ein Fabeltier kann soweit zurückverfolgt werden wie das Einhorn. In China beispielsweise wurde bereits 2697 v. Chr. von dem Chi-lin, dem Einhorn, berichtet.
So ist es auch nicht wunderlich, dass es in der Bibel erwähnt wird, oder gar, dass die Existenz dieses Wesens bis in das 17. Jahrhundert anerkannt wurde.
Hardly any mythical creature can be traced back as far as the unicorn. In China, for example, the Chi-lin, the unicorn, was reported as early as 2697 BC.
So it is not surprising that it is mentioned in the Bible, or even that the existence of this creature was recognised until the 17th century.
