Neighbors protest proposed hotel for homeless in Austin | KVUE

A crowd of protestors gathered outside of a Candlewood Suites hotel, which Austin City Council will vote on to potentially purchase.

This past Sunday, around noon, while driving westbound on Cesar Chavez, I saw a man at a bus stop with one of his legs on fire. The flame was up to his knee. The man was sitting there with his hands in his pockets. He did not appear to be in pain....what one earth???? Austin is becoming a very scary place!

I hope this gets fixed, this is getting old . Stop the spoiling of americans that just abuse the help anyways .

Travis county didn't manage the problem well when the problem was starting. So now they're trying to make it Williamson county's problem? Candlewood is not in NW Austin, it's in southern Cedar Park, not Austin. This will cost Williamson county tax money later.

What you need is excellent drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, and you need to think detoxification and fasting on a cellular level, that's what needs to happen that's what jail should be, the person should come out of jail and be extremely healthy and ready to get their lives back together

As a person from the east coast (Maryland) who is considering where to watched endless videos about where everyone is going, ...Austin is the bullseye. Your civic and political leaders put out the welcome mat and said ''Please come here, ....we want you so the people AND PROBLEMS followed. I feel for the protesters, ...but, ....their elected leaders should have left well enough alone.
