It would seem that MacArthur does not make a distinction between mere human tradition and the Apostolic Tradition. Paul states that we must hold fast to both traditions; the written and oral traditions (2 Thess 2:15). So, the 'bible alone' tradition of the protestants is an error which is neither biblical or historical.

So the issue is not just that John MacArthur is terrible at history and believes many stupid and erroneous things. It is not even that he is a lazy researcher and poor thinker who does not bother to check things that he finds appealing. It is that he peddles this gibberish to an equally uncritical audience of thousands and they lap it up like the worst kind of fundamentalist fanatics. John MacArthur is the problem of Calvinist evangelicalism, embodied.
