The fourth episode of my discography diaries series, that being a documentation of my experience with a band or artists music, sort of like a collage of mini reviews. I dived through David Bowie's discography for my fourth episode.

What are your favourite David Bowie albums and how do you rank his discography. :)

Nice video, I agree with most of it- You're spot on about Tonight & Never Let Me Down, Bowie himself later said he hated those albums lol. Though I'd personally rate most of Bowie's 90s/2000s work (Particularly Outside and Heathen) a lot higher.

Really enjoying this project - please keep it up! Some proggy discographies that I think might be worthy of this treatment - King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Van Der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant

Been listening to Bowie since Low came out and he’s my all time favourite. I pretty much agree with your take.
I would put Outside much higher though

I agree with David Bowie Outside has to be his most underrated album

Hey man, great reviews! Stumbled upon this channel in your first Discography Diaries (King Gizz) and loved it ever since. You are picking out artists and discographies that are interesting and somewhat challenging, and you give these records genuine reviews from unbiased opinion. I'm loving the series and wish you the best of luck in creating this type of content. Hope you're well and staying safe. Cheers from Brazil!

The first David Bowie album is like a "compilation" of all the things he tried during the 60s., he tried very hard to be a "commercial pop star" trying every genre that was popular in the main commercial pop music from the 60s, was in the 70s, when he started to branch from the commercial styles to more experimental stuff that his good stuff started to come out

I've always seen pinups as a Bowie album even if it's covers 😊

Will you ever talk about the rerecorded version of never let me down?

Diamond Dogs is his best. If you haven't read the book 1984 you wouldn't understand.

Another person dismissing the great Pin Ups album.
So what if it is all covers ? It a a core album as far as I am concerned and one of my favourite Bowie albums.

I did discography on David Bowie about two years ago and I think I mostly agree with you on everything although I actually like his debut, it warmed up to me. But I would rank Bowie's discography a 8.5. Your ranking is good but id move Black star down to B(although it is a really good album), his debut up to C, Tonight up to B, Heathen, outside and Earthling down to D. Oh and The Next Day down to C. My top five favorite albums are Alladin sane, Station to Station, Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars, Hunky Dory and Low. This was a great video and if you haven't yet I would love to watch a video on you covering Queen and Frank Zappa.

Bowie's debut is a great album. I'd buy a coat from him any day of the week, especially Tuesday! Have you ever heard of Anthony Newley? You thought Low was great but didn't mention Sound and Vision. Okay, everything is subjective. I'd grumble further, but I ain't got the power anymore.

Great review....the only issue I had was the Diamond Dog review....who takes on 1984 as a basis for an album? I think it is brilliant. Other than that, I agree with your reviews.

Let's review your review.
You can't read or understand English, either in it's written form or spoken word. You have never heard of a baby swan?
You don't understand poetic verse or the very clever lyrics on Space Oddity, you don't feel the ambience of the late 60's early 70's Park Music Festivals, Memory of a Free Festival, The Wide Eyed Boy From Freecloud. The poverty that was rife post WWll, the Great Divide between the Rich and the Poor and the belief in the Christian Church in God knows I'm good and Unwashed and Slightly Dazed, who's lyrics are so on point for that time.
Oh, you pretty things, is so reminiscent of living in a bedsit, with your first live-in girlfriend, the world is cascading through your life and you are so inconsequential that you are powerless to proceed or retreat to better things.
The clever, as you say 'Sci Fi', Space Oddity, with its lyrical twists and production within the Moon Landing era, was so before its time.
Yes, I am biased, my youngest is called Janine, it was playing whilst my wife was giving birth in St Thomas's, London, we won't talk about Rosalyn or Emily because you have dismissed, out of hand, Pinups, which is a shame but I'm not blinkered, I understand that 60's, early 70's Music may not be technically as sharp as the '80's but that really shouldn't be a surprise.
Maybe you will listen to a single album without a clock galloping towards the hurdle of another album to review and hear it in a different head Space.
This is reminiscent of watching three series of a highly rated TV program over one Friday night and not really getting into it.

Calm down buddy... it was the 80's... everything was synths & drum machines... Hunky Dory wouldn't sell in the 80's (Fill Your Heart, particularly bad)...
