Elections for Congress President Won’t Be Credible if Process is Not Transparent: Manish Tewari

In an interview where he explains in detail what is necessary to make the forthcoming election of a new Congress President credible and, therefore, the start of a process that could revitalize the Party, Manish Tewari has said “for the process to be credible it has to be transparent … you need to know who the electors are”. More importantly, Mr. Tewari says the Congress constitution requires that “elections at all levels have to be held in a credible and transparent manner” culminating in the election of the Congress President at the final stage. As he spells out, this requires elections at booth level, block Congress Committee level, District Congress Committee level and Pradesh Congress Committee level.

As of today, RaGa doesn't hold any official post. He is an elected MP like many others. In that case, why is he held responsible for a lot of things that are not right? Why do his partymen wait to seek an appointment with him and then complain that he is inaccessible? A major part of GN Azad's letter is about RG, who's important just because he is the current Congress President's son. Is RaGa being used as an excuse? Why fear him and his coterie? However, he is the only one who raises the right issues. All those who have left the party in the recent past never supported him on issues like demonetisation, GST, unemployment etc. Chowkidar chor hai was definitely not in good taste, but BJP asked for it when they uttered things like 50 crore ka girl friend or calling Rajiv Gandhi a bhrashtachari!!

I request Jai Ram Ramesh who is one of the few sensible congress man left should ensure that doubts expressed by Tiwari are addressed. If need be Tiwari should be consulted so that congress which appears to be in ICU is revived
