BOSTON -- Jason Kidd drilled a straightaway 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds remaining to give Dallas the lead, as the Mavericks stunned the Celtics, 101-97, Friday night at TD Garden for their seventh straight win. Rajon Rondo's alley-oop to Kevin Garnett sailed out of bounds to end Boston's hopes. Dirk Nowitzki scored 14 of his game-high 29 points in the third quarter. The Celtics had a 95-89 lead with just over three minutes left before Dallas ended the game with a 12-2 run.

Tyson Chandler had a huge game inside for the Mavs, who improved to 34-15 on the season. The big man finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds as the Mavericks swept the season series with the Celtics.

Ray Allen had 14 of his team-high 24 points in the third quarter as the Celtics took their first lead since early in the first quarter before settling for a 77-77 tie heading into the fourth. Allen had three 3-pointers, giving him 2555 for his career, leaving him just six shy of passing Reggie Miller for first in NBA history.

After coming off the bench in his first five games back from offseason right knee ACL surgery, Kendrick Perkins made his first start and was impressive replacing the injured Shaquille O'Neal. Perkins finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds in season-high 32 minutes.

Northeastern product Jose Barea came out on fire, scoring nine of his 11 points in the first quarter as the Mavericks built a 34-27 lead. The Celtics, who fell to 37-12, play the Orlando Magic on Super Bowl Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
