Tanzanian National Anthem - Enoch Mankayi Sontonga

When Tanzania was still known as Tanganyika, it adopted the song "God Bless Africa" as its national anthem in 1961. After uniting with Zanzibar in 1964, Tanzania continued to use the song as its national anthem. Once used by Zimbabwe, Ciskei, and Transkei, it is now also used by South Africa (as part of the national anthem) and Zambia (with altered words). The song's words were translated into Swahili, the official language of Tanzania, from Sontonga's original Xhosa lyrics for the version that is currently in use there.
