This video is a discussion about random rolls in destiny 2 and the math behind them. Hopefully this video educates players on what they are really asking for when they praise random rolls.

I agree with you for the most part. my only major hangup is what constitutes a time requirement. Is it time spent using the weapon, I don't want to handicap myself to get an improvement. I understand that's your point with making crafting feel like a chore but I still don't love that option. but if not that maybe a time requirement is a rare or time intensive resource, but that either means you need to gut lucky to get the roll you are looking for, which goes against the argument for crafting, or bungie has to find a delicate balance between hardcore players and casual players, where they don't want hardcore players to get too much or casual players getting too little. I don't love that idea either, but I would still rather have any form of crafting over no crafting.

from a player with well over 2000 hours in destiny 2, i much prefer crafting to random rolls. maybe enhanced perks were a mistake, making crafted guns better than regular ones, and if i get a god roll of a craftable weapon before the 5 red borders, i will still go for the pattern. i know its the cliche of john destiny with his 8 kids and 2 minutes to play every 3 weeks, but it is just crazy how much time an average player has to sink to get one drop of loot compared to the odds of achieving a 'god roll', or even a roll with the two last column perks.
crafting has only benefitted people, it makes people more excited and motivated to play and to see weapons drop, and no real player says 'oh no, this really cool weapon is craftable, now i wont be able to grind for it as long!'. the return to random rolls for the latest seasonal weapons has only made me realise how much i loved the addition of crafting even more, but bungie just gave away god rolls to us for beating the first mission anyway, so what was the point? why arent people complaining about that?

people that chant the argument about it being a looter shooter ad nauseum truly don’t use anything more than a 3/5. in pvp some weapons are straight up unusable if you don’t have a 5/5. the grind is genuinely disrespectful to the players time and if there’s some way to curve rng id be more inclined to grind

Look, I see what you are saying, but I don't think the loot drop system doesn't works like this. At least the way you have it on paper.

There are examples of games like borderlands that truly have odds like this for "god" gear, I've had friends take years to get a single 5/5 equivalent. However, having gone through both destiny 1 and 2, I've never come anywhere close to the to the statistical odds of bad luck you have projected

Now if you wanted to really talk about low 5/5 chance, look at ritual play list weapons. I presume you get into those later in the video, but even then. I think you have severely overestimated how the system works in practice.

Truly though they probably could reduce the amount of rolls on ritual playlist weapons, and I'm not discounting your math either. But it does not match up with 10 years of experience from not just my account but most others I've talked with

Coming from a guy who has put over 30 hours into onslaught just to get an envious-bait and switch edge transit (not even a 4/5 or a 3/5 just a 2/5), the grind for loot can be horrible sometimes. Especially in a game mode I don't care for. If you average 10 min per piece of loot for onslaught, I have gotten 180 edge transits and have never gotten those 2 perks together. I've never even gotten a good column 3 perk with bait and switch in the 4th column. So I definitely understand where you are coming from.
With that being said, I've had my fair share of getting early god rolls but to me this is still ridiculous.

This is on point. Ive minimally played this season because, the grind is stupid, and I understand the season. I literally don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. This happened in season of the Witch, the mechanic was so convoluted I didn't play. Paul Tassi has no life, his opinion is ass. It took me 120 VOG runs to get mythoclast. I won't play it again because it makes me sick.

Bro, I'm farming ergo sum to get arc conductor+caster frame, and I've already passed 40 ergo sum, and not only didn't I get it, but only 1 dropped with arc conductor.

Datto, Aztecross, True Vanguard, Lucky10P, Rick Khakis ect would more than likely disagree with you. Those shills for 10 years now have done nothing but hype weapons and abilities up only to 1-2 months later start dropping hints that those weapons and abilities need to be nerfed due to " balancing issues " so yeah I don't listen to content creators when they make videos saying " farm this now!" cause it'll just get nerfed 1-2 months later thanks to the same people who said " farm this now!"
