It's a surprising yet solid deal. On his day sterling's a very good player; his goalscoring record at City clearly proves that. He's also got plenty of Prem experience and has worked with Arteta before. If we're gonna challenge for the title again then some added talent / rotation up top can't hurt

As an Arsenal fan, I’m super excited by this deal! I’ve been wanting Sterling for years as he would fit so well in Arteta’s system and now it’s finally happening. This is great chance for him to get back into the England squad as I firmly believe he is still a world class player

Sterling to arsenal is a great deal in my opinion, he's a clear upgrade on the likes of riess Nelson and fabio viera in the wide positions, a good experienced player who has previous with arteta as well. You mention utd, and I fully agree that had he joined utd it would have been a worse fit for all parties. Utd would need the signing of a winger to have more of an impact upon the first team, like when he was at Chelsea, he's still expected to replicate what he did at city. However at arsenal I imagine he's coming in to fill a support role, playing mostly either from the bench or in domestic cups. For that type of role he's an amazing player to have, seemingly he's prepared to humble himself for the sake of the game too given
