Free shipping. Look at the shipping cost. If you need to spend more than that to get the free shipping, just pay for the shipping.

Yes, please! Definitely a new "In the Car" series on consumerism. These are the videos that seem the most heartfelt (uncensored) to me

Probably not necessary in a community of seasoned shoppers, but I'd say whatever your budget is, take it down to about 70-75% to build in a cushion for taxes, shipping, and impulse buys.

Great video, Cindy. I have a helpful tip for people who end up with a sampler graveyard: this used to happen to me in the past and what helped me turn this around was decanting any sampler I received into reusable sticker books. You can either put them in categories if you have your sticker books set up that way or just decant each sampler as it comes. I hope this helps someone!

I need a google extension that just plays this video each time I go to a website not on my list. 🤣

These are some of my favorite videos from you because not enough people talk about it! I like that you keep it real, too. You’re not telling anyone not to spend and you’re not shaming anyone, you’re encouraging responsible spending ❤ thanks Cindy!

Great tips! I especially love the comments reminding us that taxes and shipping will put us over the edge every time. I recommend that if you are shopping for gifts on Black Friday, try to plan exactly what you're going to buy for each person, including how much it "normally" costs. If it goes on sale, consider that a gift for you and try not to buy more stuff. Also, if stationary etc. is what you're shopping for, go through your stash and see what you already have before you shop. I'm bad about forgetting how much I have squirreled away in storage boxes, so this is a good reminder for me too. I'm also a fan of keeping track of how long it takes me to use up my supplies. I stopped buying sticker kits and washi tape when I realized that it will take me years to use what I have 😳

I'm just skipping to step 5 this year. With a bonus step 6 of sending wishlist links to my mom because she was asking what I want for Christmas.

I have a Wish List folder in my browser bookmarks for each person in my family, including myself. I review the lists before birthdays, Christmas and sale weekends. It helps me to reduce impulse shopping.

Love these videos. The planner community needs more voices like yours banging that anti-consumerism drum.

I use an app called Karma that lets you save items to your wishlist and you can organize items into categories. It also can notify you when things go on sale which has saved me from impulse buying (especially on Amazon). My big issue was I couldn't see everything on my wishlist and then prioritize based on importance or if I had a certain amount I could spend that week, I could go to my list and make the decision based on the price. This has been a HUGE money saver for me.

On some websites, I use my shopping cart as a "wish list". Often when you're logged into your account and add items to your shopping cart, if you leave the site without making a purchase they'll send an email with a discount. I always pay close attention to sites and discount offers vs sales. Sometimes they can be stacked and sometimes they can't - so trial and error and/or some math skills will help you figure out which option gives the biggest bang for your buck.

No wonderful ideas to add. I just wanted to say that I love these videos! They are the voice of reason in a sea of commercialism. Thank you, Cindy!

I always make a basket of things I would buy anyway and see if they are part of the sale. If they are it's a bonus if not I've not spent more money than I would do outside of Black Friday.

Black Friday is a lot of fun. But I shop all year round and often times the places I shop at have similar sales other times of the year, but I get caught up in the excitement. I am going on a no spend in 2023 too, and I have a wishlist for things I may need for next year. I’m still window shopping but I find that’s often just as fun as doing the actual shopping. Thanks for the video! And one more thing: my kryptonite is skincare and yesterday I made an inventory check and upon realizing I had 3 years worth of multiple categories, i really can’t justify to myself adding more to that. So an inventory check would be a good tip. Let’s start fresh! Who wants all that stuff hanging around anyway

My game plan is pretty specific 1) muji drawers IF they are on sale min 25% 2) planning roses planner IF it’s on sale 30-40% 3) let’s plan it IF she has new releases 4) the local craft store IF they have some ranger stuff on sale
