Lure Modifications for Striped Bass!

Moneybags Mcp & Matt share some of their favorite ways of modifying lures fresh out of the package. One of the main reasons that they do this is the make the fish more likely to swim away with less holes than needed.

More and more anglers are starting to switch to using single hooks instead of trebles and have still been finding great success. The less trebles you use also makes it a lot less likely that you will get hooked yourself, which is never a good time.

One season i ran to a shop here in the BX and snatch up a SP minnow damn near forgot about the hardware that comes on them isnt top notch so i just did a lot of drag play and no issues. And used it in RI with some huge waves and still no issue dragging in nice sized Bass. Thanks for the hook options, now i know what to look for when i want to upgrade

Do you suggest only crimping your treble hooks on a plug or do you crimp your single hooks as well? Is there a situation in which you would not crimp your treble hooks on a plug? Also, why do you recommend against using a triple treble hook plug and do you suggest just removing the front treble?

I do love the magic swimmer but you right that back treble has got to go, i wasn’t a believer until i hooked on the back trebles and the lure broke

Singles tend to affect swim like bliwing out. Not cool. Split ring pliers always get lost. They need to make them with loop attachments and make thinner ones.
