Network Theory: Maximum Power Transfer Theorem for AC Circuits
Topics discussed:
1) The maximum power transfer theorem for ac circuits.
2) The condition for maximum power transfer when the load resistance and load reactance both are variable.
3) The condition for maximum power transfer when the load resistance is variable but the load reactance is fixed.
4) The condition for maximum power transfer when the load impedance is purely resistive.

1) if the load is purely reactive then it must be an inductor or capacitor, these elements will never consume any real power over a period because these are energy storing elements they absorb some power but give out the absorbed power over a period so the average real power consumed is zero.
maximum power absorbed will be zero.
2) sub RL = Rth, XL = -Xth then Pmax = vth^2/4*Rth ^2

Sir Plz complete all the topic of this subject which you discussed in first lecture of Network Theory. These all are most important and informative as well. I really appreciate your hard effort. So again i request you sir plz complete the whole series of this subject ASAP . Thank you Sir and Thanx to Neso Academy....!

@ 21:45 Does this mean that for a transmission line (connected to an AC-voltage source) this is required: Z(source) = Z(line) = Z(load) for maximum power transfer? But what is Z*(Thevenin) in this equation? Thank you!

We have RL as variable and XL as fixed in case 2. Why there's not a case with RL as fixed and XL as variable? Is there any particular reason for that?

H/W:
1) If RL=0 there is no power transfer no matter what you do to XL
2) Vth²/(4*Rth)

Why we considering the supply source is a maximum value?? It could be rms also?
