Wynne's speech about mabari being able to speak but knowing not to reminds me of folk tales of orangutans in Borneo. People say that orangutans can speak and have human intelligence, but don't speak to humans because humans would put them to work.

I like to see how Morrigan's attitude to dog is changing as the journey goes until eventually she even starts to give him treats. Also, there is a detail from the "Witch Hunt" DLC that no one seems to notice. When the company finds Morrigan, the hound is the first one to dash towards her merrily and she leans down to pet him looking quite happy. I was even amazed when I saw that scene in my first playthrough because during the main campaign I didn't even have a dog.

Honestly part of the reason I romanced Morrigan in spite of the entire party warning against it was because Dog liked her.

Ultimately Dog was an excellent judge of character.
