I'm so glad the copyright trolls lost.

And there is Ed in the forefront making boundaries and trailblazing! It doesn't come im sure at proper good timing. Kudos to Ed for showing up once again. The man has character and shows a great deal of restraint.

I mean that makes sense it's hard to write a song if every note your concern that you can't go forward without copyright infringement. Especially in this situation when there's a long history of those notes being played together in songs before and after.

Blue suede shoes, rock around the clock, leaving on a jet plane and thousands of other songs use the 1, 4, 5 progression in music add the four chord and lot's of songs use that progression so it's obvious that somewhere your going to get something sounding similar to another song but it doesn't mean you've ripped it off

Ed, because you are so brave, you and Amy and attorneys have set new Precedent that will be written in law books. You are our HERO.❤️

Wait. So who exactly was suing him if not the Townsend estate? The copyright lawyers?

Although she was later interviewed and blamed it on an all white jury and also said “I didn’t lose, they cheated”

Yes you can't copyright chord progression. There's only 12 notes in music so there will be similarities.

Very magnanimous of him. We can only hope it deters KG from pursuing more cases. Public sentiment towards her will only become increasingly hostile (and let's hope the legal fees bit).

True artist are "arrogant". What i mean by that is we believe in our music, lyrics, etc. Ofcourse songwrites will take inspiration from somewhere or another song, but that is also because there are dozens of songs describing one moment or one feeling.

Ed is sweet, but from the outside - let's be honest: it was a cash grab

Now Timbaland on the other hand needs to credit and pay all the Arabic artists he copied off of for some of his biggest hits.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that
Hector is going to be running three Honda
civics with spoon engines, and on top of
that, he just went into Harry's and bought
three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec
exhaust system.

Unfortunately, this story ever so reminds GREATLY of how ELVIS PRESLEY robbed poor BLACK person's of color way down the south by stealing their songs and recording them and releasing them and profiting millions of dollars in album SALES over BLACK person's songs!!! SHEERAN most definitely committed copyright infringement Everybody with good EARS can hear that SHEERAN committed plagerism by sampling and recording the Gayes and the Townsend's song without their permission!!!! Its a doggone shame that the album he illegally recorded went diamond by selling over 10million copies and the Townsend's and the Gayes lost in court and weren't compensated monies it's just downright pitiful the discrimination BLACKS are up against in this pitiful country Anytime there is BLACK vs WHITE case in the courthouse BLACK person's always come out on the losing END 🤢🤢🤢

I recommend that you diversify your investments outside real estate. A recession, no matter how terrible it is, gives wonderful purchasing chances in the markets if you are cautious, and it may also produce volatility, which provides great short-term buy and sell opportunities. This is not financial advice, but go shopping because cash isn't king at the moment

A songwriter who uses these common chord progressions is obviously less creative than a songwriter who comes up with something uncommon. Both Marvin Gaye and Ed Sheehan use pretty much the same common chord progression with the same number of beats per chord and similar tempo. These chord progressions form the basis of both songs. The drum beat and basslines are also very similar. So these elements are the pre-made canvas upon which to create you own melody and lyrics. Songwriters who do this are actually writing less (being less creating and doing less creating) than songwriters who choose more unique chord progressions. Take the Mona Lisa, change her hair color and fingernail color change a couple things in the background and there you go. No copyright infringement. Steal without "stealing." Thank you Leonardo for doing the heavy lifting so I can profit.

Let just be real none of this matters. Ed sheeran could only dream of writing a song as good and timeless as let's get it on!
