Absolutely beautiful film. And it has one of the greatest last shots in cinema history.

To see Maestro John Williams ever so easily position himself onto the piano bench the way he did at age 89-90 is a beautiful thing...

It’s so beautiful that Spielberg made his most personal film at Universal 😊

"There are no villains in The Fabelmans. In a way, The Fabelmans is a story about the act of forgiveness; and how important that act of forgiveness is. One of the reasons I wrote this story is because at a very young age, something happened in my life, which is reflected in my film, but something happened in my life which was between myself and my mother, where I stopped perceiving my mother as a parent, and began looking upon her as a person. I had that epiphany when I was sixteen years old, and so I have never looked at any of the people in my story as enemies."

Beautiful words from Spielberg! If only every one us could look at our parents, or anyone else, as the person that they are, and not as the role they play in our lives, we would always forgive each other and live more peacefully.

The Fabelman's is a brilliant story. About a family navigatining life. The story of young Sammy becoming a movie director. Steven Spielberg did a great job. Telling his story. A great storyteller. A wonderful person.

I’ve always loved Steven Spielberg’s films and live just a few minutes away from where he saw his first movie. He has this amazing ability to recreate the feeling of being a child, whether it’s that sense of wonder or the inner emotions of a child of divorce. I had to hold back tears as I watched this with my mom because let’s just say I could very much relate to part of the storyline. I’ve been in that position before where as soon as you have your parent’s remorse, you don’t want it. Because it hurts too much to see them sad, no matter how much their mistakes may have hurt you. So like Seth said, I could very much project a bit of my own life onto this film, even knowing it’s about Steven Spielberg.

I think we should savor this decade. Its might be their last decade to make movies for some of these Legends, Spielberg, Scorsese, Tarantino etc, etc. Even just saying out loud makes my heart heavy.

I will see this at some point I promise.

I have tremendous respect for Steven Spielberg. After his team sent me that personal first class Letter that showed up on my porch in a first class FedEx Express envelope. ❤

This movie spoke to me in pretty much the deepest possible way it could’ve, because my family went through an extraordinarily similar event when I was a child. In short, my parents divorced for the same reason as Spielberg’s did. The revelation that he talks about at 3:35 was one that I had when I was 12, and it hit me like a train, and like him, I’ve never looked at anyone as a pure villain ever again. The realization of nuance and subtlety is usually not something people understand until their 20s, or even later, and in many ways it has helped shape me into someone that tries to emphasize empathy and understanding over everything else. I loved this movie.
