What is dishwasher salt and how do you use it? | AEG

quite poor video, making a video just to show how to pour a salt through a funnel? unnecessary. How much salt? how often? how to check salt levels? How to know if I need it? AEG manuals say to add 1 litter of water in the salt compartment too, but here looks like no water has to go in.

Hi, I have the fse73507p model (45 cm) and I’ve been using it now for some time. Today it constantly lights up a red “S” like symbol, and the manual says I need to fill salt, so I did.
After that I went for a 1:15 wash cycle, washing some dishes, but right after it finished washing I’ve pressed the power button again to see whether the S symbol disappeared. *It didn’t!*
Could you please advise what to do?

Just filled up my new AEG dishwasher then went to set our water hardness level. Turns out I didn’t need to fill it according to a table in a separate area of the manual, so it’s essential in the UK unless your water is soft. AEG really need to explain this clearer, I have a dishwasher full of salt that wasn’t required! Can it be removed?

I have the FSB42607z, I have found out the water softness level for my area but I cannot find in the manual how I adjust the level?

Absolute bullsh1t . . . . There is no such thing as 'dishwasher' salt - unless someone like AEG uses unnecessary additives. Common or garden household salt is all that is needed and I've actually seen a production line, in a salt mine, where pure salt was packaged for approximately 20 different uses - one of which was for dishwashers - without additives!
