A shepherd, never leaves his flock. Matthias never gave up on his promise. And he was so determined to reel the gold back in. God bless this man

Only thing that’s more beautiful is how Mattias relied on her beautiful spirit to bring him back from the depths of training day after day after day.

Insane what true adrenaline can do. I’ve been through a break up with a woman I truly loved without getting closure. A few days after that break up, and I was lifting the 44 kgs dumbbells in incline bench press… I felt weak up to my normal heavy lifts, but I gave it a shot. This is the only time in my life I have ever psyched myself up to this level. No amount of stems, hardcore music or motivational talks could reach this level of adrenaline. It was not hate, but pure sorrow while knowing deep down I still would sacrifice myself for that woman. I was visibly shaking non stop, no thoughts, no feelings of crying but still a tear running down. And while I pressed those weights they felt like pillows. The speed of the reps were the same, but the gravity in my hand, arms, shoulders and chest felt like nothing. My record with those weights full out on a good day, was 10 reps. I crushed it and did 16. And not even remotely tired or fatigued… absolute insanity levels of adrenaline. Was heartbroken for 1 and a half year

There's no amount of weight he couldn't have lifted that day.

It's crazy he managed to do 258 kg after failing 246 kg - also he failed 235 kg in his warmup. 248 kg to 258 kg is a crazy jump. When I first saw this video I thought yeah that's really cool, he managed to push the weight, and he won gold. But then I was like 258 kg? That sounds like a lot. And the further I looked into it, the crazier the number 258 kg started to sound like. Definitely a magical moment!
