yeah, like 5% faster than R7 1800X but cost TWICE as much for "extra 5% performance"

People also really miss the point. Of course if you are already in a newer generation Intel processor for gaming there is little reason to build a new rig with Ryzen. Just the same as it would be silly to upgrade or build a new rig to Kaby Lake if you are in Skylake.

These new processors give people that have been holding out and haven't upgraded in years a new option and a cheaper option.

Sit back and enjoy your current rig until it's lived its life and ready for an upgrade, then look at the intel/amd offerings and see whats best for you at that point.

I'm running a Skylake I5 right now. While I am an AMD fan I won't be upgrading my CPU anytime soon, there is really not much point. But in a couple years when its time to rebuild. Then AMD here I come.

I dont like that everyone shows the 7700k in these benchmarks. Obviously the 1800x is coming up short in games but we HAVE to remember that the 7700k is also running at 4.0 to 4.9oc which will obviously still be beneficial in gaming. The workstation type tests are really what the 1800x are for although I will say that this is extremely new and there are A LOT of optimization that can still happen. Will be waiting for this platform to mature before jumping on it. Great review, keep up the good work HardwareCanucks!

I think this CPU is great. Multithread monster with good gaming capacities. Intel offers either Multithread overpriced CPU with poor price/performance gaming capacities either great gaming CPU with poor multithread power.

Ryzen provides a monster multithread with a very good gaming capacity with a great price

I have money for 1080ti + ryzen 1700x for the same price of i7 6900k tell me who's the stupid now. I do a lot 4k conversion video not to play games only and I wants to support AMD because intel piss me off past 5 years make me pay a lots money for pieces it not fanboy we need (consumer) that competition it's good for my wallet and 65 fps it good enough for me sorry for my.

The TDPs are wrong in the table. 95W for 1700X and 1800X. And 65W for the 1700. In the first table.

You should've tested BF1 with dx11 not dx12, CPU usage and framerates are higher with dx11 on high-end CPUs
