Google Fiber TV announced the first week of February that they’re going to stop selling their conventional TV service, all together. Existing customers can still use their TV service, but they’re not taking any new customers. In this video we’ll go over what Google Fiber has decided to focus their efforts on and what your other options are for live TV.

----------

Originally, Google Fiber TV was packaged together with their internet. It’s a linear TV service, which just means it’s a traditional style of TV, like cable or satellite—not a cord-cutter service. By 2016—with three years and six major markets in service—they only had a little over 84,000 TV subscribers.

That might not mean much, but to compare, YouTube TV has over 2 million. And YouTube TV is only three years old. And that tiny number for Google Fiber TV probably hasn’t grown much since they stopped offering TV in their new markets awhile ago.

As Google said, “Customers just don’t need traditional TV.”

But maybe you think Google is wrong and want that traditional TV. If so, hang around to the end of the video and I'll give you our picks for the best alternatives to Google Fiber TV.

Seemed like an advertisement more than an informational video.

She has the most pleasant voice. I could listen to her talk about anything and be interested.

We don’t have Google fiber here. But my Cable company has gig internet now....that’s fiber....which I have to admit, is very nice. No buffering and everything just always works.

Google fiber is not available in Seattle as you claim. I think you got misinformed because their website says some of the cities you listed are only available for Webpass not Google fiber.

I enjoy my AT&T Fiber 1000 Mbps but great video and we definitely need her doing more videos 👌🏽

Why can’t I stream pro football games out of my city? Like I live in Chicago but want to watch west coast teams?

Can someone there please figure out her teleprompter/cue cards so it doesn't look like she reading things off the ceiling? I mean you can't tell me y'all haven't noticed this when you're editing the videos, or during recording for that matter. C'mon....figure it out. This is some basic production stuff that should have already of been addressed and fixed.

A couple of things.

First of all, 50 hours of DVR is more than plenty. Why would anyone need to keep more than that clutter of programs they already watched?

Secondly, YouTube has by far the worst DVR of any service. Their slogan should be, "You're too stupid to control your own DVR." No ability to record individual episodes or new episodes only. No ability to delete episodes after you watch them (seriously, who thought this was a good idea?) The DVR becomes clutter with crap as time goes on that it becomes cumbersome to use. Who cares if it is unlimited if most of what is on it is crap you do not want or already watched and want to remove.

Funny - I just ordered and got Google Fiber this last week, cutting off the garbage Spectrum services I'd had for several years. I'll Never do cable again.

There is probably good info in this video, BUT it was difficult and painful to listen to her as she spoke too fast and/or did not enunciate well enough. She needs to slow down, enunciate better or use somebody else, like Craig, to present fact-laden information.

Good info but you looking up and reading is distracting - try preping your info before broadcasting so you dont look like you are reading verbatum - reading verbatum shows your general lack of subject knowledge

It’s ok because Google Fiber is a joke. It never expanded. May only affect 1, 000 people and only 10 had paid tv through it. Oh btw, my cable company offers gigabit and I have that.

1gig download... blah..blah...blah... 1 gig upload blah..blah...blah... the reality is that no one will get these speeds unless their computers have a super decent network card.
