Mary Leakey was a British paleontologist and archaeologist known for her research on the origins of human evolution. She started her career as a fossil hunter in Africa and later conducted anthropological research, making significant discoveries. One of her most famous finds was the fossil "Zinjanthropus," discovered in Tanzania in 1959 and dating back approximately 3.7 million years. Mary Leakey collaborated extensively with her husband, Louis Leakey, and together they made numerous important archaeological and paleontological discoveries in Africa.
