Arteta already said he rates and wants to keep Tierney. The issue is Tierney and Zinchenko have different styles and both players are injury prone so their game time needs to be managed out of nessesity. Arteta had to try out alternative left backs in preseason since with Zinny currently out, what if Tierney gets injured? Better to experiment now then later.
Last year Tierney was barely injured and made 27 apperances in the league.. joint highest for Arsenal since he joined.
