Yes, this is important! This is how everyone should be practicing.

Also, when I'm looking at a piece for the first time, I don't start by trying to play through it. I play a little of the beginning so I know how it sounds, then look through the piece, try to spot any parts that look tricky, and play through them slowly and work out fingerings. All that happens before my first attempt to play through the piece.

Hi, , that is a great technique. I do use that method as well . I have a Sony ic recorder with lots of songs that I practice with and I'm able to loop any part, and the speed very handy.. I was a bit rushed to do those songs. Lots more practice for me. . hope you liked my skinny love.. thanks for the update Meghan.

I somehow hate staccato. Never really practiced that in my lessons, I only had about 3 practice pieces in the first two years and none after that. Today, I force myself to practice 2 mins staccato in each practice session. It is not much but otherwise, I would never practice it.
