KRK K10S Powered Subwoofer review - SoundsAndGear

Today I'm checking out the KRK K10S sub which was sent to me for revivew by AMS. I was already looking to get this sub to match my Rokit 5 monitors so I was definitely happy to check this out.

I bought this yesterday and I loved it! However, I was also confused about there being no 1/4" outputs. The guy at the store even mentioned that they had them. Luckily I have so many types of cables and used RCA instead

Nick Panlook if the sub is used properly, it will compliment the monitors, that is why it has a bypass switch and volume knobs. it is a must!

I got the HS80M's and I wanna buy a sub but im cant decided to get the KRK 10S or the Yamaha HS10W. Which one do you recommend?

cool man, thanks for watching! Yeah I'm still interested in getting the Rokit 8s myself, I still think the sub would be beneficial as it's dedicated specifically to that lower end of the frequency range.

im curious, i have the 6's. you said in the 5's the sub is a good combo, do you know if the 6's have a better low end then the 5's where i may not need the sub

I don't know what a nano patch plus is, but to hook up the sub you need to feed the audio output from your computer/interface into the sub, then from the sub out to your monitors.

cool, thanks bro, i was thinking it would be good anyway....just wondering how much better the low end on the 6's are to the 5's

I think the sub is good in any situation, you'll still be able to get a much better low end from a dedicated sub, I'd use a sub even with the Rokit 8's just to have that dedicated to the low end. You can always bypass it like I do when you don't need it on.

Hey man I have the KRK 6's and was wondering about the 1/4 issue; do you run the cables from the interface directly to the sub then to the monitors or interface--->monitors--->sub? My interface only has 1/4 in outputs so I don't know if I could use this sub.

Hello, I'm not using a computer at all, just a mixer. So do I still need to get an audio interface to connect my studio monitors to the sub? Thanks

Yeah, speaking in general in terms of my actual monitors, I read your comment too fast and thought you were saying you were about to upgrade to the 8s and thinking of getting this with it. I think if you get this with the 5s you will be very happy.
