If you wanted to steal something fast, cool and nimble in the early 90s, you wanted Fords small Halo car, the XR2i. I 'borrowed' one to see how good they are.

Oh! That brings back memories, had a 1991 XR2i in the early 90’s, it was the same colour as this one. I was 24 years old and the insurance was over £1, 000. I could almost smell the interior while watching this, the exhaust tone was exactly the same. Thank for the trip down memory lane. 👍🏼

This was my second car and I really liked it at the time (in '97, I think). My first car had been a cheap but awful Opel Kadett Sedan with 55 HP. 0-62 mph in 17secs!! so even a skateboard would have felt like an improvement... but I must admit that the XR2i had a tendency to understeer and was very prone to rust.

I have a ‘91 Fez SX which was originally a 1.3 auto but it’s a zetec manual now, great fun down the lanes

I owned both xr2i and 1.6gti. The 205 handled much better but as you said the 2i felt solid and the cvh dependable, where as I never liked going to far in the gti it was well unreliable.
