Today Chris is continuing his acoustic guitar effects series with a look at chorus-- the Strymon Ola, to be specific. With a chorus effect, one can introduce subtle pitch and time modulation to add a beautiful nuance to the acoustic sound. Check out his rundown, using the Furch Violet, Fender Acoustic Go, and Strymon Ola. Let us know your favorite song utilizing acoustic chorus!

Thank you for the great explanation and demo. Any chance you'd do a when/how to use reverb vs chorus for acoustic guitar video? Thx

Martin Joseph introduced me to acoustic guitar effects. Initially I had several different pedals but eventually I went with a voice live 3 extreme. This gives me all the guitar effects I want plus a harmonizer and a looper in one relatively small pedal board. I use delay and reverb on my Taylor 514 a lot. Another great effect is an octave pedal (also on the VL3) which can add a warm base when I finger pick. I vary these all depending on the song. It’s been a game changer for me.

I’ve found that using a chorus with a mix knob (or an effect level control) keeps the lower frequencies of the guitar intact. Adds shimmer to the highs without disappearing the low end. Boss’ Bass Chorus (CEB-3) works well for this but there are others too.

Recommend you, the additional "screen in screen" will be more intuitive that could make a sense to have a good picture of your manipulations and synchronization with sound

I've been adding pedals to my acoustic set up for sometime. When our sound man wanted me to get rid of my amp and run through the board at church. (It was a control and balance thing.) As a player I had to give up a lot of my control over my sound. After a sustain pedal, chorus was the next pedal I added. Like you have talked about here not a lot of effect but just a touch. (I'm already playing a Tak 12-string.) I have since added others. Will you get to a graphic equalizer at some point. I'm thinking that may be my next pedal. Great demo Chris. Thanks

I'm thinking about buying a Boss Super Chorus pedal for acoustic guitar 🎸 chord strumming.

Chris, what you were playing sounded a lot like Atlantis, by Donovan (1969). I love that song and haven't heard it in a long time. Thanks!

Thanks for explaining the difference between this, delay, and reverb, it makes so much sense with hearing it and you telling me what I am hearing cuz I could never articulate it, thanks Chris

Another great video tutorial. One question for you. I find that my Chorus pedal does not like playing with other pedals, except for my Compression pedal, a Strymon OB.1, which is always on, on my acoustic board. In your experience are there other effects pedals that work well with chorus?

Hello Chris . Can make review of the lava me pro. I know it is not comparable to the incredible acoustic guitars, but I would like to know an impracial opinion from a connoisseur like you. Thanks for the amazing videos .

It has to be subtle, or the out-of-tune-ness takes over. Like you say, it's for texture. The controls might go all the way to queasy but there's no reason for us to go there.
