Gaming Pastime reviews Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal for PlayStation 3.

Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal was released for PlayStation 2 in November, 2004. A remastered version was released for the PlayStation 3 in June, 2012 and Vita in July, 2014 as part of the Ratchet & Clank Collection. Up Your Arsenal feels like it places a bigger focus on action than platforming and manages to make for an excellent time.

I'm surprised you didn't find out about Lock-stafe in the options menu, that pretty much entirely fixes your issue with the camera. Thankfully the next game (deadlocked/gladiator) starts the player off with it on by default because that game is all about combat.

I'm not sure if you'll be reviewing that one but if you do be warned it's a pretty bad port with very twitchy and glitchy cutscene presentation (besides the pre-rendered ones) and far more slow down than the original PS2 release and even though slowdown affected the collection as well it's especially more noticeable in deadlocked.

I played a lot of this game when I was a kid, it was my first PS3 platformer. Fantastic game.

Its also the shortest game in the trilogy due to having an online mode
Going commando is my favorite in this trilogy

I've only played some of the first game. From what I've played, I enjoyed it more than the Insomniac Spyro games aside from 3.

I love this game, it's so good and I remember the day I got it. I still think I slightly prefer going commando tho, but these two are my favorite

This is a good review. However you do know there are traditional feeling third person and first person control systems, with strafe and everything? During the time you were controlling the radial menu you even ran over them when you grabbed another gadget

Oooh nice! Will you kindly do the Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter trilogy on PS 3 as well ??? Love to know how those games are. Planning on wanting to buy them to jam

As far as I remember, the multiplayer could also be played offline in split-screen.

Going commando still had that vibe from the first game in terms of exploration.

I'm too British. Every time you say "Up Your Arsenal" I have to giggle.

How would you rank the first 3 R&C games?

Man you are not the only one that thinks that, it is heavily more focus on third person shooter rather than a Platformer.

Why did you play HD quote unquote, "remasters" when everyone knows how glitchy and buggy they are?

A review after my own heart haha. I wasted so much time in the battle arena as a kid.

9:43 oh I strongly disagree Mann, but I respect your opinion.

This is basically Halo going platforming

This is one of the best in the franchise. I think Going Commando might still be my favorite, but this and Deadlocked are almost equal to that game IMO. It's somewhat flawed, but it's a great game.
