I love hearing the science. I’m an RN and I recommend your videos to my patients to watch at home and learn! They come back so well informed, making my job easier! Lol thank you!

More hair science and tips would be appreciated. It is a very neglected topic. We know about skincare routines but I admit I am a bit lost when it comes to hair.

Ive never seen a derm talk about this and its super exciting because i use some Japanese skin care with many formulas focused on rice.

As Asian, rice have been staple food in my household. Fun facts, In my hometown, rice(in form hardened powder) has been used as a traditional face mask. Specifically, the rice powder and jicama mask, which is known as brightening mask. Also, my parents use fermented rice water (its smells really yucky, since they let it ferment at room temp) as nutrient water or natural fertilizer for their gardens. Now their garden is so lush than ever.

Actually if you don’t want to waste the rice….the way to make sticky white rice is to let the sit in water for at least 4 hrs before steaming it for 10min. So, soak it over night, rinse it, save the water for your hair and continue preparing the rice. Two birds with one stone. Thanks for the video! I’ll definitely try it. 😉

Shereene, it would be so great if you did more videos about hair (types, porosity, science behind hair products, etc). Especially for the curly hair community. I don't think there are any board certified hairtologists our there, are there?

The way I’ve been taught to make the rice water is boiling it then straining it and then fermenting the water for at least 3 days. That way you can still eat the rice while also getting the benefits of the fermentation.

THANK YOU! MERCI! For mentioning LOW HAIR POROSITY ! People usually tend to forget that we don’t all have damaged high porosity hair and that genetics makes some of us have this super shield over each strand that leads to build-up when using the wrong ingredients. Can you please make a video on what are the best ingredients and care for low porosity hair?

PS. I hope the move back to the city was not too hard and you feel nice back at home! Hugs!

Could you please speak about protein overload and moisture overload in your next video and how to repair it? Thanks.

I use rice water in my hair and as a toner for my face…it is wonderful and I see quick results. Once a week after shampoo and conditioner I put the rice water in scalp and hair for about 20 or 30mins then rinse it out.

I use rosemary from my garden along with oats, brown and white rice. This ferments into the most sweet smelling rice water everrrr. Can't live without my rice water. as a daily skin toner and monthly hair mask:)

I’m going to give this a try. My hair is growing fine, but I do get breakage. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for addressing the concern of arsenic in rice. I have been looking at quinoa water instead of tice water because of the arsenic issue. Trying to do my nerdy research to compare rice to quinoa in terms of the profile aspects that contribute to healthy hair.

Thank you for not doing jumpcuts every other word, it's much nicer to watch and listen to long takes in my humble opinion.
