Meandering Around Marseille, France - Part 2

🔊🎶🗣️ Meandering continued in multicultural #Marseille, which at least from my experience, is not the crime-ridden city that apparently it has a reputation for. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Founded by the Greeks as “Massalia” circa 600 BC, it’s been around for millennia as an important port city for the Romans, Visigoths, and the #French of the past few centuries. In fact, it’s the namesake of the familiar French national anthem, “La Marseillaise.” 🎶🇫🇷🫡

I pleasantly traversed the old port harbor via the 50 Euro cent Ferry Boat ride to get back to the Hôtel de Ville area, to walk west to the Cathédral La Major and the old Fort Saint Jean harbor to catch my next ride: @Francoisbleo’s boat, for an afternoon cruise. He took me to the old Port du Vallon des Auffes—new hub of American expats—before jetting out to the Îles du Frioul for a little #snorkel session. 🤿 (Many boat tours in town do day trips to Parc National des Calanques, but we didn’t have time for that. #nexttime)
