Cooltone Pedals are a new UK based company situated in Bude, Cornwall in the South West of England.

Rob at Cooltone is hand building a great line of pedals with some top quality components. They're all hand soldered and housed in rugged hand etched cases. They look and feel pretty bomb proof and I think they could easily stand up to the test of a gigging musician.

The Tremolo pedal is his take on the classic valve amp style tremolo circuit that you usually find built into old valve amplifiers. This pedal gives you that warm, slightly overdriven style tremolo.

It's a simple layout with just three controls. There are no fancy tap tempo or rhythmic subdivision switches anywhere in sight, just a good old school tremolo that you have to fine tune by ear, the way it should be.

Rob also built buffers into both the input and output stages of the pedal so it works great anywhere in your signal chain and can drive a long cable without any signal loss.

The guitar I am using in this video is the Vola Oz ROA which is plugged into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6. The amp is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT440 Condenser mic and the overdrive tones in the video come from the Chevtone Messiah Drive.

Not a bad sound coming out of that box at all! In a word, Lush! Great to hear the Messiah in action too. I'm really pleased to see Robs work getting out there; had a good chat with him a few months ago about his pedals and really pleased to see them out and about and making some noise!

Nice demo. That's a great sounding tremolo. We took a deep dive into tremolo pedals recently and there is definitely something to be said for the a simple yet wonderful sounding tremolo.
