On October 16, 2015, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly became the new record holder for most time in space by an American astronaut. He broke fellow astronaut Mike Fincke’s mark of 382 days, and will extend that record well beyond 500 days by the end of his yearlong mission.

Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko are spending a year aboard the International Space Station, testing the limits of human research, space exploration and the human spirit.

Keep making awesome stuff like this! Keep focusing on the science of space exploration and don't worry about petty online comments because we've got your back on this sort of thing.

Just today I was looking at some of Commander Kelly's photos on Instagram and though to myself, "Man... Scott Kelly is getting a whole lot better at taking pictures of earth. It's like he's got in the groove now and knows what to look for." I really like the idea that the longer a person stays up on station the sharper their space skills get. He knows what to look for and is getting better at capturing the beauty of earth for us. This video got me more excited about the science we're doing on the ISS!!

At 3:02 where all the crew members were eating together made me smile. It's pretty cool how far humanity has come! Thank you for this video!

Something about seeing Earth as a single planet as opposed to a group of divided and warring nations gives me hope that we can transcend our differences and achieve peace. These astronauts put their lives on the line and the work they do not only furthers our understanding of the cosmos but also of ourselves.

Oh boy. This is so cool!
Seeing this, I realize once again how much potential is wasted waging wars and fighting unnecessary, petty conflicts. How or why humankind isn't striving to expand our frontiers and instead prefers killing itself is beyond me.

Scott Kelly, you probably don't remember, but when you were answering questions via twitter and answered my tweet was one of the best days I've had, I'm still happy about it months later. Keep up the fantastic work!

Hey NASA, just here to say keep it up! The trolls will disappear with time but the people truly passionate about science, technology, and space will always be here to stay.

I love the video clips of the earth at night. My favorite videos are the ones where they grow plants.

This is one of those videos that makes me feel proud to be a member of the human race and not an alien -- which I am not.

Please continue making videos like these! It shows off the beauty of our planet, and these videos can show what people can do given enough determination and hard work, . Thank you for such striking images of the Earth, and the Cosmos as a whole.

Can we all pause for a moment and acknowledge how cool astronaut velcro pants are? I want a pair.
