Community mourns after Riverside County sheriff's deputy fatally shot in line of duty

A memorial grew outside a Riverside County Sheriff's Department station a day after Deputy Isaiah Cordero was shot and killed by a suspect in Jurupa Valley. Jennifer McGraw reports for the KTLA 5 News at 12 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2022.

The family of the officer should Sue the judge that released him.

I can’t even imagine how furious law enforcement must be when they arrest the same people, over and over again, just to release them almost immediately to violently offend again. This time against one of their own. The balance between crime and punishment needs to be weighed continuously of course, but when it comes to offenders with multiple violent convictions, our safety is constantly in jeopardy.

This didn’t have to happen. He seemed like one of the good cops we all hope to see.

My husband and I lived in Riverside for several years and, my brother and his family also lived there for over 25 years. Our hearts break for Deputy Cordero and his family.
